Faraday to John Hall Gladstone   9 November 1860

[Royal Institution embossed letterhead] | 9 Novr. 1860

My dear Gladstone

You have been very kind & given me a great treat in the various papers[.] I had enjoyed some of them before but never had such a look at the lines as in your developed map. It is a very strange part of physical science1[.]

I do not think I am quite clear about the photograph[.] I suppose that the original was the object placed in the rays at the violet end of the spectrum & yet am not clear in the result. When we next meet you will illuminate me[.]

Ever Truly Yours | M Faraday

Brewster and Gladstone (1860) which contained a detailed map of the solar spectrum.
