Faraday to George Biddell Airy   24 November 1860

[Royal Institution embossed letterhead] | 24 Novr. 1860

My dear Sir

I would not wish to press you unpleasantly but are there any hopes that we may have you here in the coming season on the Eclipse1. My words are few not because our hopes or desires or thanks are small but because my respect to your position & character is very great. We have little to offer your but gratitude & delight on our part[.]

Ever Truly Yours | M. Faraday

The Astronomer Royal | &c &c &c

That is the solar eclipse of 18 July 1860 visible from Spain. Airy did not deliver a Friday Evening Discourse on this or any other subject during 1861.
