Private

[Royal Institution embossed letterhead] | 25 Decr. 1860

My dear Sir

Pray use the admissions I sent you. I wish you to do so.

Very many persons mistake my relation to the lectures1 which is just the same as that of any other lecturer to any other lectures[.] I receive my fee for the course (which is 50 Guineas) and a limited number of admissions[.] The Institution receives the subscriptions. I have had before now to buy tickets for my own lectures for I have lots of nephews & nieces[.]

Ever Truly Yours | M. Faraday

William Crook[e]s Esqr | &c &c &c

That is Faraday’s Christmas lectures, Faraday (1861c). See letter 3892.
