Faraday to Paolo Volpicelli1   12 March 1861

London | Royal Institution | 12 March 1861.

My dear Sir

I have just received your kindness in the shape of a paper on the pendulum as well as the part of the “Atti” and I rejoice in the opportunity which my nephews journey to Rome supplies me with of thanking you for all your kindness. I have no news or papers to send you only my best wishes & remembrances[.]

Let me introduce & recommend my nephew Mr. Buchanan to your goodwill[.] I think you will find him worthy of any favour you can shew him. I dare say he will be well occupied at your city. But Rome is a city apart and your slightest words will be of value & very acceptable to him[.]

Ever My dear Sir | Yours Most truly | M. Faraday

Il Signor | Signor Volpicelli | &c &c &c

Paolo Volpicelli (1804–1879, P3). Secretary of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, 1847–1877.
