Faraday to George Biddell Airy   16 March 1861

[Royal Institution embossed letterhead] | 16 Mar 1861

My dear Mr Airy

I have delayed writing a reply to yours1 only that I might see our Secretary Dr. Bence Jones. We would not wish for a moment to embarrass[s] you though we are sorry to lose our hopes. If you see by the 1st or 2nd of April that you cannot conveniently favour us & will let us know yes or no as to the hopes then we will arrange & I expect that either De la Rue will give me his matter to tell - or will do it himself2[.]
