Faraday to George Biddell Airy   27 April 1861

[Royal Institution embossed letterhead] | 27 April 1861.

My dear Sir

Next Friday I shall endeavour to convey De la Rues Eclipse matter to our Members1[.] He & I have very different notions in regard to you[.] He thinks that we shall be neglecting you if we do not send you tickets, &c. I think you must be tired of Eclipse matter even when good & that it will be an impertinence in me to suppose that the evening can interest you[.] We only want to do what will be most agreeable to you remembering always your kindness[.] Let us neither intrude on nor neglect you and consider that your face company or hand writing will always admit you & yours here[.]

Ever faithfully Yours | M. Faraday

The Astronomer Royal | &c &c &c
