Faraday to Margaret Barnard   30 August 1861

Newcastle on Tyne | 30 Aug 1861.

My Very dear Margaret

I have your happy letter & read it in the assurance that the happiness will not fail you because it is founded on a rock. The faith by which we hold it may be troubled at times by our foolishness - but what of that - the ground of our hope stands sure being Christ and our faith in him is the gift of God and so stands far more sure than it could be if of our willing or desire and when trouble come[s] we have still the great privilege of going in prayer to him who says “come unto me”1 - “Ask & ye shall have”2[.] Its strength is made perfect in such weakness as ours. My brotherly love to Jeannie and all of you who are in the faith & my sincere love to all the family[.]

Ever Your Affectionate Uncle | M. Faraday
