Faraday to George Herbert   9 September 1861

Royal Institution | 9. Septr. 1861

Sir

I return herewith the papers of instructions for the keepers & other observers as you desire1[.]

On Wednesday2 I will be at the Trinity House to see the reports you refer to & hear & consult about the visit to the lime Light at the South foreland[.]

I suppose that it is as well to defer the visit for a short time after the first lighting:- perhaps such time has elapsed - It would suit me to go the beginning of the next week or later if desirable or even earlier if necessary but I wish to be in London on the Sunday[.]

On Wednesday next I shall be able to hear the convenience & wish of all parties3[.]

I am Sir | Your Very faithful Servant | M Faraday

Geo Herbert Esqr | Secretary | &c &c &c
