Faraday to John Barlow   18 September 1861

The Green | Hampton Court | 18 Septr. 1861

My dear Barlow

Your welcome letter of yesterday makes me think you have heard nothing of Tyndall so I send you a printed copy of a letter1 I received from him of a fine ascent - and also to tell you further that he came home suddenly - went to the Manchester meeting2 where I was not & has returned to the R.I. and set to Experimental work quite strong & well3[.]

My wife & I are very well:- Jeannie not. Dr. Bence Jones has sent her to Folkstone where he also is now staying with Lady Millicent and the family. Grove & his family also are there. As Jane’s father4 brother & two sisters are there she will have plenty of interest but health is the thing she has gone for.

I am very glad to see your hand writing - mine is worse - very careless & accidental. Your news altogether makes us glad. Commend us both most earnestly to Mrs Barlow - as if she were yourself indeed.

Ever Yours Affectionately | M. Faraday
