Faraday to Henry Bence Jones   14 October 1861

The Green | Hampton Court | Monday

My dear friend

You have made me very anxious1. I shall not be here tomorrow evening. I say it simply because I am anxious to save you any needless exertion. If you should happen to come either Thursday or Friday2 (and your family should still be from London) can you not sleep here and go quietly home in the morning?

Ever Yours | M Faraday

Dr. Bence Jones | &c &c &c

Endorsement: Oct 15 / 61

Presumably about Faraday’s offer of resignation from the Royal Institution. See letters 4075 and 4076.
That is 17 or 18 October 1861.
