Faraday to Peter Henry Berthon   26 October 1861

Royal Institution | 26 October 1861

Sir

The letter you have sent me from the Honble Major Fitzmaurice1 regarding his Gas light is so distinct that I think it justifies the trial of the light in a light house where it can be compared properly with other lights - (as is so well the case at the South Foreland) and may be considered as the standard up to which the lamp during its trial is expected to reach[.]

I am Sir | Your Very faithful Obedient Servant | M. Faraday
