Faraday to John Tyndall   4 November 1861

ROYAL INSTITUTION OF GREAT BRITAIN | 4 Nov. 1861.

My dear Tyndall,

Your letter of Saturday night1 has raised thoughts and feelings which are often with me, and are always grateful; and though I felt as one who knew your mind before, still, the act by which it was manifested (not revealed) was not the less pleasant and acceptable. I never doubted from the first that as we came together so we have continued, save that the bond of union, and its cause, have grown in strength from then till now. There is a loyalty between us which I am sure of on your part, and, (though a man may doubt himself) I do not doubt on my own.

Ever, my dear Tyndall, | Your affectionate friend, | M. Faraday
