Faraday to Peter Henry Berthon   13 November 1861

Royal Institution | 13 Novr 1861

Sir

I have received from Mr. Chance the accompanying report regarding alterations he has made at the Milford Haven light1. They are right as far as they could be made go and I doubt not have been properly carried into effect though I have not seen the light since. In respect of the erroneous curvature of some of the reflecting prisms I would recommend that in any future adjustments of apparatus already in the lighthouses Mr. Chance be authorized to use his discretion in respect of any particular prism which may act feebly for the sea horizon & can by particular adjustment be made to act more usefully between the distance & the shore2[.]

I am Sir | Your Very Obedient Servant | M. Faraday

P.H. Berthon Esqr | &c &c &c
