Faraday to Henry Bence Jones   February 18621

[Royal Institution embossed letterhead]

My dear Bence Jones

Before you begin to read the enclosed again take a piece of India rubber in your hand and prepare to rub out what I have written - for I wrote only because it was the easiest manner in which I could convey what arose in my mind. I think your statement or report well develops the points you refer to in your prefatory pages.

You asked me last night the date of my Woolwich & Trinity house engagements. I lectured at Woolwich from 1830 to 1851 - I was engaged at the Trinity House in 1836.

Ever | My dear Dr B Jones | Yours M. Faraday

Dated on the basis that Bence Jones needed this information for [Bence Jones] (1862), 10.
