Faraday to Caroline Deacon   26 March 1862

[Royal Institution embossed letterhead] | 26 Mar 1862

Dear Caroline

I cannot consent (to myself even) to leave your letter for an opportune time of answering. I must thank you at once[.] It was very kind of you to think of the forgetful old man - kind both to me & my wife[.]

We are jogging on. My wife (I like that title better than Your Aunt) has been very poorly indeed but is now recovering. Jeannie is not with us to day. She is going down the River with her Sister Mary [Deacon]. They join the Ship at Gravesend & there they part. Mary takes all good wishes with her. She was here yesterday but tired with a head ache – Margery [Ann Reid] comes here to day.

My dear Love to your husband & my brother - Also to the quiet Critic Miss Conny who can form an opinion of a letter which she is not allowed to see[.] Surely she is a Medium - or something better[.]

Ever Yours Affectionately | M. Faraday

Mrs. T. Deacon
