Faraday to Carl Wilhelm Siemens   28 May 18621

Wednesday 28 May

My dear Sir

The moment I got up stairs I found that I could not go to Birmingham on Tuesday or Monday 10th & 9th - I am engaged to receive an LLD degree at Cambridge2 on the occasion of the Installation of the Duke of Devonshire as the Chancellor of the University and whether the day will be Monday or Tuesday is as yet doubtful[.]

But if Wednesday the 11th will suit you, I will go on that Evening to Birmingham by the 6.0 PM train as we proposed[.]

Ever Truly Yours | M. Faraday

C.F. [sic] Siemens Esqr | &c &c &c

Dated on the basis of the reference to Faraday’s receiving his degree from the University of Cambridge.
