Faraday to Conrad William Cooke   23 August 1862

[Royal Institution embossed letterhead] | 23 Aug 1862

Dear Sir

I do not know enough of Mr Glaisher to put to him the request you you [sic] would make1. I have met him very few times. Your father2 is a very fit person to do so. I cannot venture to judge whether a third person is wanted in the balloon[.] I rather think not[.]

Very Truly Yours | M. Faraday

C.W. Cooke Esqr | &c &c &c

Presumably to secure a place on one of Glaisher’s balloon ascents that he made in August and September 1862; Cooke was unsuccessful. See Glaisher (1862).
