Faraday to Cecilia Anne Barlow   16 September 1862

[Royal Institution embossed letterhead] | 16 Septr. 1862

Dear Mrs Barlow

I write you a few words of sympathy & remembrance[.] I am not well enough to write many. My throat is very sore & age tells with the attack but I know you would write a few words rather than none. I called at your house & I rejoice to think that your absence is a sign of good health. Our love to you both. I am enjoying the gradual decay of strength and life - for even I revive it is no great revival or change to me - and that cheers me in the view of death near & round us[.] We think it impossible that my dear Sister1 & Janes mother can last much longer[.]

Ever Affectionately Yours | M. Faraday

Margaret Barnard.
