Faraday to Thomas Stevenson   13 October 1862

Private

The Green | Hampton Court | 13 Octr. 1862.

My dear Sir

As far as I know the Office is quite open but then I know very little indeed nothing about the matter1[.] What I have heard at different times has been the merest talk and without any direction so that I cannot tell how it would be best for you to act but I am persuaded the way is quite open for you to do any thing you may see fit[.] I have not heard of any intention on the part of the Trinity house or of others but then I have not put myself in the way of hearing and so have nothing I can tell you[.]

Ever My dear Sir | Most truly Yours | M. Faraday

Thos. Stevenson Esqr | &c &c &c

This was for the replacement for James Walker (who had died on 8 October 1862) as engineer to Trinity House.
