Faraday to James Tennant   18 October 18621

Royal Institution | 18, Octr. 1862

My dear Sir

I am very much obliged by your great kindness. I herewith return the volume of Greg & Let[t]som2.

I only returned to town to day so had not the opportunity of seeing the drainage works. As to next Saturday3 I do not know where I shall be or how I shall be. I hope you will let me take the liberty of joining you if I can[.]

Ever Yours Truly | M. Faraday

Jas. Tennant Esq | &c &c &c.

This letter is black-edged due to the death of Margaret Barnard, see letter 4236.
Greg and Lettsom (1858), 426-9 described the properties of smithsonite, a siliceous oxide of zinc; see letter 4240. Robert Philips Greg (1826–1906, Mineralog. Mag., 1907, 14: 268-71) was a Mancunian mineralogist and William Garrow Lettsom (1804–1887, B2) a diplomat and mineralogist.
That is 25 October 1862.
