1Faraday to Charles Carter Blake2   21 January 1863

R Institution | 21 Jany 1863

Sir

Though it is against my rule (which is also the rule of Society) to reply as of course to a circular - yet I am induced to say that I am doing all I can to retreat from Societies & cannot therefore join a new one. The pressure of general distress makes this quite necessary in my case[.]

Very Truly Yours | M. Faraday

C.C. Blake Esqr | &c &c &c
