Sir
Having received notice from Mr Wilkins that the Hunstanton Apparatus at the Trinity House was in perfect order, I examined it on Saturday (the 18th instant) and found it in accurate adjustment according to the data contained in my letter of the 1st Nov 18621.
In respect of other points the apparatus was excellent. The glass was good in quality, colour, & workmanship, and I have no reservation to make.
Save that four of the ribs of the upper reflectors are chipped near their insertion into the brass supports, and fragments of glass about an inch long are thus broken off. This has probably been done in the carriage. Mr Wilkins proposes the removal & replacement of these pieces and that that should be done at the time of the erection of the apparatus at Hunstanton: to which I see no objection2[.]
