Faraday to Henry Bence Jones   19 May 1863

Tuesday, May 19 | 5h. 15’. 1862 [sic]

Dear Dr. Bence Jones,

I have come up from H.C. brought by two telegrams from Tyndall - Mr. Gibbs1 has been at the R.I. saying the Prince of Wales wished to see some experiments at the R.I; and arranged with Tyndall for Thursday at 12 o’clk 2. It will be a meeting like that first one we had with the Prince Consort3[.] The Prince does not wish it known beforehand. If you approve we can do it very well for Ansted4 needs very little preparation & does not begin before 3 o’clk5[.] The Prince will be from 12 to 1 o’clk -

In expectation that you will approve I shall call at Mr Gibbs as I go back to the R.I. - Do you not think our President6 should know? Will you write him or shall I.?

The experiments will be illustrative of spectrum analysis.

I shall return to H Court tonight but be in town again tomorrow & next day[.]

I will try & be here again tonight by or before seven o clk[.]

Ever Yours | M. Faraday
