Faraday to Malcolm Edward Giles1   29 June 1863

[Royal Institution embossed letterhead]

My dear Nephew, Malcolm

I was very much pleased with your letter telling me of all the good news and the prizes you have gained. As for the writing and the composition (what a hard word) I can judge of them for myself and as Uncle John [Giles] gave you sixpence I think Uncle Michael ought to do as much; so here it comes[.]

We are all very well here, and the weather is very fine. Give my love to Mama - to Sarah [Elizabeth Giles]2 & her sister3 and to Brantingham [Giles] and all the brothers4 - and think of me as your Affectionate Uncle

M. Faraday
