6 July 1863.

Dear Sir

I received your last letter & specimens & admire them all especially that which Mr White2 brought me from you - I thank you again for your very kind expressions & I this day presented the three pieces of magnesium to the Managers & Members of the Royal Institution3 - They were greatly interested & thank you very heartily as the Secretary4 will I doubt not tell you[.] The two letters to myself I have placed in the letter book of the Institution that they may be ready ever to testify to your magnesium.
