Sir,

I am directed by the Elder Brethren to forward to you the accompanying copy of a Report1 from Mr Wm. Douglass2 on the corroded state of the upper part of the Cooking Range Flue-Pipe at the Light House on Godrevy Island, together with a piece of the upper length of the said pipe and a specimen of the Incrustation which forms internally therein, and I am to request that you will favor the Elder Brethren with your opinion as to the probable cause of the corrosion of these pipes, which has also been found to take place at the Needles Light House.
