In reference to Mr. Dickson’s letter1 I can only say that it conveys no information about the means he proposes to employ; and in that, & other, respects creates no confidence. This invention (he says) is patented2;- the specification therefore ought to convey all the information needful to understand the matter. He ought therefore to send you a copy of the specification;- which, when I see it, will enable me to give you a longer & stronger opinion3[.]
