As a sort of return in kind for your Carbon photograph1 I send you one which as you will see in the back is taken from a Magnesium light Negative at our Friday Evening meeting of the 6th of this month2.

Roscoe (1864), Friday Evening Discourse of 6 May 1864, p.290 mentioned that a portrait was taken, but did not say of whom. The photograph is reproduced in Roscoe (1906), opposite p.132.
