Faraday to Charles Louis Barreswil1 and Aimé Girard2   11 July 1864

The Green | Hampton Court | 11, July 1864

Gentlemen & dear friends

I have received the third volume of your Excellent Dictionnaire de Chimie Industrelle3 and though I have through age & forgetfulness retired into quiet private life and find myself unable to read much with thought, cannot delay to return you my most grateful thanks for your remembrance of me. I am very happy in watching the progress of Science though I cannot now hope to help it - but I wait for the great change in great hope and rejoice in the peace of mind and the bodily rest which is granted to me[.]

Ever Your very thankful | & obliged | M. Faraday

à | MM. Barreswill et | Aime Girard | &c &c &c

Charles-Louis Barreswil (1817–1870, DSB). French chemist.
Aimé Girard (1830–1898, P3, 4). French chemist.
