Sir

Your question is too vague to be answered No battery, having a wire 3 miles long and at its extreme end a piece of platinum wire affixed would ignite the wire[.] It appears to me that you do not understand electrical arrangements[.] You must study the matter & then make a series of experiments so as to learn the points necessary for the ignition of the platinum wire[.]
