Faraday to Edward Vivian1   7 September 1864

[Royal Institution embossed letterhead] | 7 Septr. 1864.

Dear Sir

On my return yesterday to London from Norfolk I found your letter.

I can only say that my thoughts return very frequently to gravitation & that the more the subject is moved the more hope I have. I think a great discovery awaits us in association with it: and so whether you think of it by yourself, & especially if you set others thinking about it also I expect good will result. Why should not the discovery come in our day?2

Ever Truly Yours | M. Faraday
