William Withey Gull to Sarah Faraday   15 February 1866

26, Brook St.. | Grosvenor Square. | W.

Dear Mrs Faraday

When there is a convenient season in which you think it might be proper to trouble Mr Faraday I should esteem it a great favor if you would request his signature for me to ye enclosed[.] The purport of it is obvious. I am a candidate for Fellowship of ye Royal Society and Sir Hy Holland advises my getting Mr Faradays name as knowing something of me. If Mr Faraday should be able to put his name I shall esteem it a favor but pray do not let the thing at all trouble him. As my friends Acland1 & Paget2 &c will I think add theirs I was anxious to put Mr Faradays first3[.]

Yours very faithfully | Will W. Gull
