26 Aug. 1867 | Hampton Court.
My dear Dr Tyndall
We feel that we must not let you hear through public channels of our loss.
My dear Uncle is gone: he passed quietly & calmly from this life yesterday afternoon. He had never taken to his bed & was sitting in his chair, in his own room at the time[.]
I am yours | very sincerely | Jane Barnard
Dr Tyndall
