Third Marquis of Lansdowne to Faraday   After 1841

My dear Sir

I am obliged to you for what you so kindly say in telling me of the rule you had adopted against dining out - & not at all surprised at it, considering the good reasons you have for doing nothing that could in any degree clash with pursuits no less interesting to the publick than to yourself.

I had indeed suspected such myself [to] be the case, but was induced to take my chance from expecting the Master of Trinity1 & some other persons well known to you tomorrow[.]

I remain with | sincere regard | Your faithful | servant | Lansdowne
