Faraday to Roderick Impey Murchison   Undated

R Institution | Tuesday Morg

My dear Sir

I have been out all the morning trying to arrange matters but cannot for which both Dr Ainsworth1 & myself are very sorry. Several difficulties, any one of which would decide the matter, are in the way[.] As for Dr Ainsworth he would be willing but the members of the Board of Control have made arrangements to come next Friday & these cannot be broken[.] On my part I find I could not take next friday and my endeavours to find one of those who are coming on afterwards who could have failed[.] So that I have lost my morning having been able to effect nothing by my rambles[.]

Ever Dear Sir | Very Truly Yours | M. Faraday

R.I. Murchison Esq | &c &c &c

I understand the Geolog Society are to have the Geological matter of the subject so that it, in fact, will come before you in the best form[.]

William Francis Ainsworth (1807–1896, ODNB). Surgeon and geologist.
