From John Phillips 6 June 1851

Ipswich

6 June 1851

My dear Sir

I did not return you my thanks for the letter & the printed notice of your excellent plan of Geological Chronology as exemplified in the Museum at Ipswich. Pray accept them now. I wish to ask if you know enough of Mr Searles Wood (who on account of his Crag papers must all praise) to judge if it would be a suitable thing to ask him to be one of the Secretaries to the Section of Geology?

We shall ask you (I believe) to add to your other duties these:

to preside in Section D,

to preside one day at the ordinary perhaps the earliest, on Wednesday July 2.-

Ever Yours truly

John Phillips
