This reptile was found in a shallow [illeg.] of [illeg.] at Steeple Bumpstead in Essex. It is about 10 1/2 inches long and 1/30 inches in diameter, [illeg.] and [illeg.] transparent with the exception of a dark line down the back; its head is flat, black and shining, and [illeg.] forked. It is in almost constant motion, forming a variety of elegant and graceful twists.
