To John Phillips 8 August 1836

Cambridge

8 Aug 1836

My dear Sir,

I have just determined to attend the meeting at Bristol, & propose being there by Friday the 19th. Though I have no pristine paper to read I shall be able to assist in the working of our N. H. section by a few verbal communications for the sake of promoting discussion if there happens to be a dearth of matter. I trust I shall have no subpoena this year to stop me as I had last time just as I was about to start for Dublin. I find the Peacock, Challis, & L. Jenyns are to be present from Cambridge & I believe Sedgwick & Whewell also - but these are not here at present.

Since I sent my accounts to the Treasurer I have had one more Corresponder Mr Wilson Overard of Sheffield - of which perhaps you will make a memorandum in case he should be at Bristol & apply for a ticket. I don't know that I can be of any service in working the machinery - but if I can any way assist you on my arrival I shall be ready to do so. I leave Cambridge next Friday & if you have anything to write about direct to me at St Albans Herts.

Yrs very truly

J. S. Henslow
