To J. C. Dale 23 January 1825

Cambridge

23 Jan. 1825

My dear Dale,

I hope you don't fancy that your valuable present of Insects has been lost because I have not already acknowledged the receipt of them. The fact is I have been examining the men in the Senate House all the last week & had not a single moment to spare to write to you. I forwarded the box to Mr. Garnons as you requested but as the Socy. has no collection of plants I shall detain your Gentiana Pneumonanthe in my own custody. I formerly gathered it in great profusion in Anglesea & have also a specimen from Yorkshire. It is however a rare plant & if you can ever spare time to dry me a few specimens I should feel obliged. The Hebrew writing seems to be a very beautiful performance & shall be presented with the Insects at our next meeting.

Yrs ever truly

J. S. Henslow
