To J. C. Dale 8 February 1834

St Albans

My dear Dale,

Very many thanks for thinking of our family collection. Your specimens were very acceptable - indeed I shall always be thankful for any named species however common as I have very little extra time for examining them myself. I got a few at Ely last Autumn when I was staying for a month. Curtis has also sent me a good batch all named, so that we begin to cut a respectable figure in the eyes of the uninitiated. Power has put up a specimen of Carcarius for you. He says that he was much obliged for those sent which were acceptable tho' only one of them was quite new to his cabinet. I have started nets & other apparatus & shall take advantage of circumstances to collect again wh [ripped page]

Yrs ever truly
