My dear Sir,

as I can ask the question for a 1d, I wish to know whether you can tell me whether any author has taken notice of Artis's Filicites osmundae pl.7. I can't find it referred to by Brongniart or Sternbergh (unless I have overlooked it) & I wonder that Brongniart has not noticed its general affinity to his Nemopteris Villiersii, which Sternbergh makes a Cyclopteris. I have a specimen from Elsecar Colliery (Artis's locality) which shows me that it is distinct from Brongniart's N. vill.i which again is not so close to yours & Lindley's O. beanii as Sternbergh's arrangement would seem to make them.
