To J. F. W. Herschel 27 March 1848

Hitcham Hadleigh Suffolk

27 March 1848

Dear Sir Jn. H.

I send the enclosed, as I have recommended attention to your "Discourse" - but you will observe, (if you trouble yourself to read it) that it is addressed chiefly to Mechanics, & that I am without pretensions to make it worthy the attention of the well informed & scientific. Airy has been giving these 6 popular lectures on Astronomy which have excited the greatest possible interest & attention.

Yrs very sincerely

J. S. Henslow
