To George Knights 18 November 1854

Hitcham H. S.

18 Nov 1854

My dear Sir,

I find Mr King insists so strongly at my being present at the Patriotic fund meeting at Hadleigh on Monday that I shall not be able to get off before the train which gets to Ipswich at 6.30. I am afraid I shall not be able to get any thing ready that night but I should like to see that hanging apparatus in its proper order as it will be advisable to have this put up from my diagrams. I hardly know where I go to for Rigaud has not answered by enquiring whether he cd receive me & my youngest daughter for 2 nights. Mr J. C. Cobbold wrote to invite us for 2 nights, but I replied from London that I was expecting to go to Rigaud's. I have written to him (Rigaud) to send me a note to the Station to say whether I can come to him - for if not I must go to some Inn as it is too late to make any fresh arrangement. If you come to the Station I can give you something to carry at once to the Museum, but I had better pack off with my daughter in a fly to wherever our destination may be. Mr King, I see, has given I. J. a rap on the knuckles!

Very truly yrs
