To George Knights 9 May 1855

Cambridge

9 May 1855

My dear Sir,

The letter (R) in the composition means so many different things that I have conferred with Miller & suggested the alterations on the accompanying paper which you can compare & substitute for the species referred to by their Nos. We have agreed to make a few other alterations, some in correction of misprints, therefore be so good as to be guided by the list in your writing (here & there corrected) but to be altered by the accompanying list for the species there referred to. In returning the proof I shan't want the list in your writing but only that in mine. Species 209 is to be omitted, being founded on a mistake. S is to be used instead of SU at 195. I have placed an * & drawn a red line where the alterations are to be made. I could have rewritten the whole, but I have got the paper from Miller too late before post. If the list is too long it can be split into 2 communications. I sd like 2 or 3 strips of the last for reference, as I forgot to cut them out of the paper when at home on Sunday.

Yrs very truly
