To George Knights 28 May 1855

Hitcham, Bildeston, Suffolk

28 May 1855

My dear Sir,

I shall probably get to Ipswich on Thursday for a few hours - but it is rather uncertain. If I come it will be with a bearded cousin, just to show him the Museum & one of my daughters. I will bring a few things with me, & set up the Purbeck beds. I expect two Cambridge friends to come here the last week in June to inspect the Crag beds, & shall be glad of very precise information of the more important localities (pits &c) for sections & fossils, that we may lose no time in a 2 or 3 days excursion to examine them. I shall write to Mr Colchester but perhaps you may be able to pick up some information for me also. I have some of the ordinance maps in which I could note down the localities. Thanks for paying Mr Davey - pray remind me of my debt when I come. I see you omitted the notice last Saturday in the J. tho' it appeared in the Chronicle. You have enough (I believe) for one or two more in continuation. From the reports of backwardness at Paris I have determined not to go till July at earliest

Very truly yrs
