My dear Knights
The enamelled picture was broken - whether by an Englishman's thrust at the unfortunate officer, or by (more likely) the stamp with which the P.O. pound our letters I can't say. I should say order a doz signs & try the effect. Bree will join us on the 26th, with a man he says is a competent hand at collecting Larvae. Our party after the deluge prospered exceedingly. The Marquee Mus. was a greater source of attraction than ever. I managed to deliver 2 courses of Lecturets, spite of my hoarseness, which were well attended!! We had far more company than they got at Cherwik[?]!. Mr J. Brown of Stanway came here on Friday, having made a mistake in the day. The Children passed a capital examination in Botany. It would be impossible for a set of people to behave better than ours did. All retired after God Save the Queen in quiet excellent order.
Yrs very truly
