To George Knights 2 August 1855

Hitcham, Bildeston, Suffolk

2 Aug 1855

Dr Knights,

I have only just heard from Dr. D. that our Boat is the River Queen, the same we have had 3 times before. He says they now charge 2d. per head for landing at L. Fort - but we never yet had any diffy. about getting ashore by a plank. I can't now ask the people for any more, & I have had fewer applicants than usual for the tickets - on account of the lateness of the Hay harvest. Our friends therefore can't stand any further pull on them, & we must be content with a look at the fort & desist from attacking it, like the Baltic fleet at Cronstadt. The infernal machines there are not more to be feared than these extra two pences per head! I send more Mus. Notices which won't look quite so formidable in print as in M. S. I had better see the proof - but I know you like to have these M. S. by Saturday, & so send it at once not to bother when we meet.

Yrs very truly
