To George Knights 30 March 1856

HBS

30 March 1856

My dear Knights,

I quite trusted to your declaration that my letter to Sidney sd be inserted in the Ipswich papers - as I don't want to be put into a position with respect to lecturing at Ipswich which may incline people to fancy I have skirted any promises made by me. I see no notice of any sort about the Lecture or non Lecture on Tuesday. I had also hoped long before this to have heard whether the Vol of the Monthly Mag. would be acceptable to the Mechs Institute. Occupied as I am I cannot afford to dwell on such matters, especially during this week when I have to prepare for Cambridge. I shall probably drive over on Thursday to have a look at the Museum & bring a few objects before I leave, & if the books are wanted can probably bring them. So pray let me know. If you have any objection to send my letter to the papers, I will write direct as from myself but it is disagreeable to be left in the dark & not to know what is determined one way or the other. Excuse this hasty scrawl as I little time & I returned last night. My Lecture to about 500 of Price's (i.e. Wilson's) men was 2 hrs & they were very attentive & apparently pleased

Yrs very truly

JSH
