To George Knights 10 July 1856

Hitcham, Bildeston, Suffolk

10 July 1856

My dear Knights,

Many thanks for the specimen which has arrived safely minus one or two replacements which a little glue will rectify. I am engaged every day next week. The week after I hope to be in Ipswich on Tuesday 22d to attend with a candidate for a Pupil Teachership but must return home at night.

Thursday 24. To excursionise with the Archaeologists & then to proceed to London for an Examination next day.

In the following week I have to prepare for our Village excursion which is proposed for Wednesday the day the Council meet. I can suggest a conference some when & where on the 22d when I am in Ipswich - but it must not be for the evening, as I shall have to [illeg.] our Schoolmistress & Pupil Teacher candidate home again & therefore cannot sleep in Ipswich which an evening conference requires. If you can ascertain at what hours the candidates are examined, I should be at liberty during that period, & perhaps a section of the Council could meet & examine me touching the proposed augmentation of the rate for the Mus. I have heard from Mr Darling[?]. Have you been able to catch a goldfish? I had an inspector of training Schools here to examine into my plan of instructing Children in Botany & we had a thorough day of it.

Yrs very truly
