To George Knights 30 June 1856

30 June 1856

My dear Knights,

Your letter has only come to hand this morning instead of yesterday. I had already written to R. Hill, to mention the loss of my 2 letters, & possibly more - so I think it very likely your injudicious friend will get a jobation! Not less than 6 letters & papers came to me this morning mis-sent on them. So I have forwarded the envelopes to R. Hill, telling him that such continued carelessly [sic] is a great inconvenience to me. One of these letters (from Bury) was of great consequence, appointing a meeting today in Bury with one of our people, which possibly it will now be too late to attend to. I am glad the letter turned up, as it rather relieves me respecting others - but the clerk should have remembered his duty & not sought to oblige you at my very possibly (as it turned out) to my annoyance & that of others. There is no department in which strict routine should be more carefully attended to. I have been asked by a Revd. J. Temple one of the inspectors of Training Schools, to let him see how I teach Village Children Botany - so I expect him here next week. I meant to have asked the Club whether any of them know of a stray goldfish or two which I should like to get hold of, to exhibit in my projected Vivarium at the next Show. Do they sell such things in Ipswich, & if so what do they charge?

Yrs very truly
